FAQSAre the USB 2.0 based USB2ISA and USB2PCMCIA products backwards compatible with USB1.1? No, the USB2ISA and USB2PCMCIA type products require a system with a USB 2.0 host controller. Could I use them on older PC's that only support USB 1.1? You will need to add a USB 2.0 host controller - as a PCI card to a desktop computer, or a PCMCIA card to a notebook. I am a distributor, can you send me samples of your products for testing? . Our policy at ARS Technologies is strictly payment prior to shipment of goods. The only exception to this is payment via C.O.D, which is only available to shipments within the United States. Our basic licensing technology plan is $5000 initial + $5 per copy. This includes - schematic of the board, list of components, gerber files of the board , binaries of the driver (including device software) for Win 98 and Win 2000, binaries of additional software - applications / dll's. Does the technology license include source code (for the device side)? The software source code licensing is $20k. It includes source of the device side, source of drivers for Win 98, Win 2000 and Win XP source of api level dll, sources of command line and gui applications. . Drivers Our hardware, except the ISA-PC104, comes with the Universal Software Layer. For more details see UNIVERSAL SOFTWARE LAYER Specifications, I/O Space & Memory Do you allow access to the I/O and memory space of your ISA cards? Currently we allow access to I/O and memory space of any ISA card. Do you have a spec sheet as to what ISA functions are supported (e.g. DMA and to what speed limits) and how much local memory is on the card and other such info? Currently usb is 12 MBit/s (approx 1.5MBytes/s) bandwidth bus, which is shared between all the devices connected. Often some ready made devices achieve 64kB/s, which may not be adequate for your requirements. We are trying to go up to 1MBytes/s, and as you know, since the bus is shared, it may be less. We currently do not offer DMA support - it is 24 bit address, 16bit data memory and I/O, + interrupt support. Is the USBISA card a 16-bit ISA product or 8 bit only? ARS Technologies cards support both 8 and 16 bit ISA cards. Do you support Register I/O, Memory access, Interrupts, DMA transfers? We support the full IO space of 64kb, and full memory space of 16mb. Since we have application level support - we do not have IRQ/DMA events support on this level. We are providing this in the upcoming driver level support in sdkbus. Operating Systems Compatibility DOS: Does your driver collaborate with DOS? In order to use our card you need USB enabled OS - and DOS is not USB enabled . We use Windows 98 to control the board through usb. There is no DOS running on our board . You can control multiple ISA cards , with a single computer. NT: Is there an adapter for usb to serial or parallel so I can use usb devices with NT? NT4 does not have usb support, and we recommend our users to use either Win 98 or Win 2000. We can offer support for NT4 only for large customers under special conditions for our devices- including usb to serial or parallel. WINDOWS: Will your products work for Windows NT 4.0, or only Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98? Our products work on Windows 98 and Windows 2000. We have the option of providing NT4 support - it is your decision to use it. NT4 does not have usb support, and you need to have usb host support by a third party supplier - just like installing additional software package. You will receive a response within 8-12 business hours to your technical questions. Warranty All our products are covered by 90 days manufacturing warranty and a 30-day refund warranty. Within this period all our hardware and software, if not functioning, may be replaced with the same or equivalent hardware and software. All returned products will be tested by ARS Technologies technicians to verify the problem. If found to be non-defective, we may ship back to the customer at his/her cost and may charge for diagnostic fee ($60/hr). The warranty will be voided by neglect, abuse/misuse, or physical damage, and no replacement will be given. |
